The Sundance Festival started last Thursday and will wrap up at the end of this week and after 20 years it has a new director, John Cooper. This article in the NYTimes sums up the refocus on independent film at the festival.
Two big programming changes that are part of the new vision include: “NEXT” for extremely low budget to no budget films and The Sundance Film Festival USA, where festival films will be shown in eight theaters around the country.
Pretty exciting stuff!
I have a short list of film’s I’m looking forward to seeing but sadly there are no trailers up for them yet so I’ll hold off. In the MEANTIME here is a series of trailers of films that I call “you made a feature length film about this? but why?”
